Weaving

musee-soie-tissageWeaving is the process of interlocking warp threads (fot the length) and weft threads (fot the width) of the cloth, practiced on manual looms (« à bras ») in the 19 th century and later on mechanical looms. Several types of looms exist, like ribbon looms, and braid looms. The famous Jacquard loom enabled the fabrication of precious cloths thanks to a system of perforated cards for the designs of the motifs.
